As the second week of school comes to a close, I am so super excited for what is to come in the upcoming months. In order to ensure that we all have a safe and happy year together, we in the 6th grade have been working hard to master classroom and school wide expectations, rules and procedures. From bathroom hand signals to line order with silent hellos in the hallways, I can honestly say that our 6th graders are true ROCKSTARS! Both classrooms have already received Edgewood Excellence awards from Mrs. Smith for bringing our A game during a fire drill AND our classroom marble jars are already half full!!! #proudestteacherever!
Next week, we will slowly begin one of my favorite projects of all time, The River of Life. As we prepare for our first Core text "The Skin I'm In", students will complete a self reflection project where they explore their own lives in order to understand the trails and triumphs of our main character. I love this project so much because it allows me to get to know my students on a deeper level and helps them to understand their peers for more than just someone their share a classroom with.

I know they are going to knock this one out of the park! Heres to week 3!
Along with practicing rules and procedures this week, we also set some goals for ourselves! Here are some photos of the kids working on their S.W.A.G (Students With Amazing Goals). From fire fighters, to Stanford Graduates, my kids have some pretty A-MAZING goals!
